The Technology Acquisition And Deployment Fund (TADF) COVID-19 Challenge

The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), supports the use of innovation and technology to strengthen the work of government to safeguard the well-being of South Africans and to help society to mitigate and adapt to the impact of COVID-19 through the Technology Acquisition and Deployment Fund (TADF).

The Technology Acquisition and Deployment Fund (TADF)  is an innovation for inclusive development instrument implemented by the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) on behalf of the Department of Science and Innovation and seeks to shine a spotlight on the ideas and innovations by South African innovation and technology developers who have game changing and innovative interventions against COVID-19.

The Technology Acquisition and Deployment Fund (TADF)  COVID-19 Challenge invites innovative ideas and technologies  in the hands of technology developers (Innovation Entrepreneurs, Technology developers and  SMME’s) that can help supplement the effort of government to reduce  the impact of COVID-19 transmissions and the impact  of the pandemic through innovations that address the ways of living, societal change, inclusive development, economic growth and access to basic services and the protection of the vulnerable. The applicant must provide proof that the potential user client / department or community beneficiary group  has accepted the technology or innovation and will use the technology / innovation to deliver it mandates or to support the delivery of a service as a response to COVID-19 challenges.
